Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is located in Southeast Washington, D.C. The base is situated along the Potomac River.
It was established on October 1, 2010 in accordance with Congressional legislation. The bill was based on the recommendations of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC). The legislation ordered the consolidation of Naval Support Facility Anacostia and Bolling Air Force Base. These were separate, but adjoining military installations. This facility became one of 12 joint bases formed throughout the country as a result of the 2005 BRAC.
