Thank You for Participating in our Survey
This survey was designed to help us understand the needs of people who have decided that it is time to move on and relocate. We believe that 2024 will mark the beginning of a flood of home sales with buyers and sellers becoming very active. The questions are of a general nature only. We are not asking for any personal, confidential or financial. The information that you provide will be used so that we can better help our clients with their housing. We would also like to help you with all of your real estate needs. There are Nine Reasons that You Should Use a Licensed Agent to help you with the real estate process.
We urge you to read about What’s Ahead for the Housing Market, along with Our Bold Predictions. This is what we believe will happen in 2024. Depending on your age, you will have a different view of the market and your desire to move on. Here’s what we know. There are seven defined generations. They are:
The Greatest Generation (born from 1901 to 1927) |
The Silent Generation (born from 1928 to 1945) |
The Baby Boomer Generation (born from 1946 to 1964) |
Generation-X (born from 1965 to 1980) |
Millennials (born from 1981 to 1996) |
Generation-z (born from 1996 to 2012) |
Gen Alpha (born from 2013 to 2025) |
Here’s Who Will Buy and Who Will Sell
The baby boomer generation makes up the largest group of all homeowners. They will be 52% of all potential sellers now. Most homeowners are 65 or older. They need to make sure that they know the process of selling a home so that they go into the transaction with knowledge they can use. We educate home sellers so we can limit any surprises and manage a smooth transaction. |
There are 72 million millennials. They are the most likely buyers now. Millennials will begin moving out of their parents’ homes around age 26. Many of them will rent. The median age of a first-time homebuyer is 35. A lot of mistakes can be made by buyers (especially first-time buyers) because of things that they don’t know. Buyers need to be educated about the home buying process for a smooth deal. That’s what we do for buyers! |
The Reasons people Decide
That it’s Time to Move On
Everyone has their own reason for deciding to move. Here are the top ten reasons that we have found:
To be closer to family and friends | Need more space |
Love the rate but not the house | Want better neighborhood |
Want a vacation home | Lots of equity and lots of choices |
Legacy real estate | Time to downsize |
Out-of-area relocation | Change of work or life |
We can help everyone who is moving on, but staying in Maryland. If you’re moving on to another part of the country, we can introduce you to a great agent through Our Nationwide Referral Network who can help you there.
