Learn about Mount Victoria, Maryland

Mount Victoria is an unincorporated community in southern Charles County.  It is situated between the Wicomico River and the Potomac River and lies near the community of Newburg to the west and the communities of Issue and Swan Point to the south.

Mount Victoria was named for a 15,000-acre farm owned by Robert Crain, an attorney and farmer.  Crain’s lobbying efforts were instrumental in the opening of the Maryland portion of U.S. Highway 301 in 1927.  At the time, his farm was considered the largest privately owned landholding in the state of Maryland.
