Cecilton is a small town in Cecil County. It borders Chesapeake City to the north and Earleville to the west. To the south lies Galena in Kent County, while the town’s eastern boundary meets the state of Delaware.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Cecilton covers a total area of 0.46 square miles, all of which is land. The town was officially incorporated in 1864 by the Maryland Legislature, with its first town officials elected in May of that year for one-year terms. Cecilton is also home to Greenfields, a historic residence built in 1770. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
