Learn About Faulkner, Maryland

Faulkner is a rural community located in Charles County.  It shares a border to the north with the community of Bel Alton.  Located to the south is the community of Newburg.

Faulkner is home to the Loyola Roman Catholic retreat center.  This was the general area where John Wilkes Booth, assisted by Thomas A. Jones of Huckleberry Farm, rowed across the Potomac River into Virginia.  This happened  a week after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln.

The community was called Lothair before being renamed for a local resident.  Landmarks in Faulkner include Mount Air.  It is a Federal style house that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.  Timber Neck Farm was added in 1979.
