Port Republic is a small, rural community located in Calvert County. It shares a border to the north with the community of Prince Frederick, the county seat. Located to the south is the community of St. Leonard.
While Port Republic is not incorporated and has no central business district, it nonetheless features several notable places. Those include the historic Christ Episcopal Church and a restored one room school building. The annual Calvert County Jousting Tournament is held the last Saturday in August on the grounds of Christ Church.
There are several residential subdivisions located in Port Republic. They include Governors’ Run, Kenwood Beach, Scientists’ Cliffs, and Western Shores.
