St. Mary’s City is located in the southern portion of St. Mary’s County. It shares a border to the north with the community of Park Hall. Located to the east is the community of Lexington Park. St. Mary’s City shares a border to the west across the St. Mary’s River with the community of Drayden. Located to the south is the community of St. Inigoes and the community of Dameron.
The city was founded in 1634. It is also known as Historic St. Mary’s City. St. Mary’s City was the first European settlement in Maryland and served as the first Capital of Maryland.
