Federalsburg is a town that is located in Caroline County. A portion of the community is also located in Dorchester County. Located to the east is the State of Delaware. Federalsburg shares a border to the west with the community of Trappe. Located to the south is the community of Hurlock.
According to sources, the town was named for the Federalist Party. It met there in 1812 and was incorporated in 1823. A 1905 source says that Federalsburg was so named because it was settled by people from northern states. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town of Federalsburg has a total area of 2.02 square miles. Of that area, 1.93 square miles is land and 0.09 square miles is water. It is the home of Colonel Richardson High School.
