Our Real Estate Career Philosophy

DMS Properties, LLC Residential Real Estate Services

Our Company Philosophy
to Help Agents Succeed

DMS Properties, LLC Residential Real Estate Services began as a full-service real estate brokerage firm on September 20, 2013.  We had two licensed real estate agents.  We have since grown a little bit.  Today, we have three licensed agents.  We are always looking to expand even more.  We will work with part-time or “dual career” agents.

On February 1, 2017, we moved into a new office space at 3200 Crain Highway, Suite 305, Waldorf, MD 20603.  We now have sufficient space for additional agents to work comfortably.  This is especially true in this new age of business where lap tops, WIFI, cell phones and our vehicles make us much more mobile.  Our company and our agents no longer need to rely on fixed desk space with hard-wired electronics.  Our office space is available for agents to use on an “as needed” basis.

As our company continues to grow and evolve, we want to recruit New Real Estate Agents.  We want to help them develop a viable real estate business that meets their expectations.  We will also be happy to partner with Seasoned Real Estate Agents who may be looking for something different.

Real Estate Career PhilosophyWe have begun our recruiting program.  We try to reach out to agents who are newer to the business and possibly unsure about how to start.  We also try to reach out to agents that are thinking about giving up.  In speaking with many agents over the past few years, it is clear that many of them aren’t taught about how to generate business.  They also are not taught about how to run a business.  According to statistics from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), about 8 out of every 10 real estate agents in the business for less than two years will “give up” within the first year.  They don’t even give themselves a chance to get started.

Typically, it takes about five years for a new agent to “get established” in the business and have a viable real estate career.  There are many reasons why a real estate agent, especially within the first three to four years, might not get as much out of the business as they could.  According to an NAR survey, the area where new agents seem to struggle most is lead generation.  They report that 47 percent of the agents who responded said that including lead generation in initial training is critical.  Also, 37.55 percent said that lead generation was the most important area to work on during ongoing training.  Finally, 77.39 percent of the respondents said that new agents fail at least in part because they are unprepared for the realities of working as an independent contractor.

In short, the agents who participated in the study said that their Brokers and Managers don’t teach them how to run a business!  Obviously, the first step is to look at your personal finances, but then also your business finances.  The best thing a new agent can do is find an excellent and generous agent mentor or coach.  We can fill that role for you!

We incorporate the philosophies of Buffini & Company, particularly Brian Buffini and Joe Niego, in running our business and helping agents who affiliate with DMS Properties, LLC Residential Real Estate Services to become successful and develop a business capable of supporting the lifestyle they want to achieve.

We will continue to add more information for new agents.  We’ll specifically be expanding information about our training and agent development.  This is, of course, in addition to the required Continuing Education (CE) that all real estate agents must complete to retain their license.  Our goal is to help our agents succeed so that our company can also grow.
