Maryland Route 2/4 runs along the western edge of Lusby, providing direct access south to the Naval Air Systems Command (Patuxent River) and north to Joint Base Andrews, as well as convenient routes to Washington, DC and Annapolis.

The community includes Patuxent High School, a middle school, and three elementary schools. Lusby’s central business district has grown rapidly in recent years, with three shopping centers bringing new grocery stores, restaurants, and other businesses to the area. Lusby also offers a variety of recreational amenities. Cove Point Park features baseball, soccer, and lacrosse fields, along with a public swimming pool. Chesapeake Hills Golf Course, a public course, is located nearby. The community is also served by a private airfield owned and operated by the Chesapeake Ranch Estates and Drum Point communities.
