White Plains is a community in Charles County, located just south of Waldorf. It borders Pomfret to the east, La Plata to the south, and is near the community of Bryantown.
The commercial hub of White Plains lies along U.S. Route 301, while most residential areas with a White Plains mailing address are located six to seven miles west, in large subdivisions along Billingsley Road. The area has experienced population growth from neighboring communities and features new office parks, a public golf course, and the scenic rail trail bike and hiking path that extends to the Town of Indian Head.
White Plains is also home to the Charles County Department of Health headquarters. Plans for an east-west connector road in the area have been in discussion for years but were halted due to environmental concerns, and it remains uncertain if the project will be completed.
