New for March 15, 2024

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has reached
a tentative settlement of several class action lawsuits
regarding the way commissions are paid in real estate
transactions.  Once it is approved by the Courts, some
changes will be made and we’ll be providing additional
information as it becomes available.  It is expected
to become effective sometime in or after July 2024.

One of the changes will involve the Exclusive Right to Represent the Buyer/Tenant Agreement that we use.
It has been the law in Maryland that anyone searching
for a property to buy or rent using the services of a Realtor
must sign this agreement BEFORE being shown any
properties.  Depending upon what, if any, compensation
the seller or landlord is offering, the buyer/tenant
may be responsible for paying their agent directly.
