What are the Expenses I Need to
Pay to be a Real Estate Agent?

A real estate career with DMS Properties, LLC Residential Real Estate Services means you’re in business for yourself, but not by yourself.  We are a small, privately owned real estate brokerage firm committed to supporting agents as true business owners.  When you choose a career in real estate, you are essentially starting your own business.  And like any business, there are expenses, regardless of whether you earn $8,500, $38,000, or $150,000 in Gross Commission Income (GCI).  Your fixed costs remain relatively consistent.

Helping Agents Understand the Business Side of Real Estate

Many new agents enter the industry without realizing that being a real estate professional means running a business.  Without understanding this, they can struggle or become discouraged.  Our mission is to help agents learn how to operate their business successfully, financially, strategically, and professionally.

We work closely with our agents to teach them:

  • How to manage business expenses
  • How to budget effectively
  • How to invest in lead generation and marketing
  • How to create sustainable systems that support long-term success

No Franchise Fees. No Desk Fees. No Transaction Fees.

Unlike many larger companies, we do not charge:

  • Franchise fees
  • Transaction fees
  • Desk fees

These costs can add up quickly and cut into an agent’s income.  We’re intentional about keeping overhead low so agents can keep more of what they earn.  We also provide a list of typical real estate agent expenses that agents can expect when they affiliate with us, so there are never surprises.

A Fair Commission Structure for Agents and the Company

We use a commission structure that we believe is fair to both our agents and our brokerage.  It reflects the value we provide while ensuring that business expenses remain reasonable for agents at any stage in their career.

Of course, there are certain costs that every real estate agent must pay, no matter which company they join.  But our goal is to keep those costs to a minimum and help agents understand how to manage them wisely as part of their business.
