Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the
Cheltenham, Maryland Veterans Cemetery
On December 14, 2024 at 12:00 pm, we will REMEMBER the Fallen, HONOR those who Serve, and TEACH our children the value of Freedom. The Wreaths Across America Ceremony will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham. The event is to Remember and Honor our veterans. This is done through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.
This will be our third year participating in this event. Obviously, most of the attention for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony is focused on Arlington National Cemetery. However, we want to remember those in our area.
This is a well-attended event and many people participate. According to Wreaths Across America, we placed 8,506 Wreaths that were sponsored for 2022, which was only 30.4% coverage. The goal for 2023 is to place wreaths on 28,000 graves at Cheltenham.
We hope that the sponsorships will increase in 2023. We urge you to help our location lay wreaths at as many graves as possible by going to Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham.

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath?
It means you’ll honor an American hero at Cheltenham on Wreaths Across America Day. It’s a day that’s been set aside to lay wreaths at the places where we remember, honor and teach about our veterans.

Your sponsorship will ensure that a wreath is hand-crafted of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow. This is done in Columbia Falls, Maine. It will then be sent to Cheltenham. That’s where a volunteer will place it on the marker of a fallen hero. That volunteer will then “say their name” to ensure that the legacy of duty, service and sacrifice of that veteran is never forgotten.
