Do You Know of Any Rental Properties
that Accept Housing Vouchers?

Several housing voucher programs are available in Maryland.  There is no single list of rental properties that accept vouchers.

Maryland law protects renters with housing vouchers.  On October 1, 2020, “source of income” became a protected class under Maryland fair housing law.  In most cases, landlords must consider applicants who use housing vouchers.  This also applies to rental homes listed in Bright MLS by real estate agents.

Property owners may not advertise that they refuse to accept vouchers.  However, all applicants must still complete the same application process and meet the same screening requirements.  An application may be denied for certain reasons.  Those include credit history, criminal background history, prior evictions, previous legal actions or lease violations, or income or occupancy qualification requirements permitted by law.

All applicants are reviewed using the same standards, whether or not they use a housing voucher.  You may review the procedures we use to process rental applications.
